Subject: MBA after B.Tech. - Shall I join a job or prepare full time?
Date: 4-Sep-2007
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
i am completing my last semister right now.i have got on campus placement in cognizant.but i m in dialemma weather 2 join or not as i want 2 give my best shot in CAT.if i didn't join weather i will b havin any problem in personal interview???plz reply.

Thank you.

Answer: If you want to appear for CAT, you have to really work very hard. As I see you have some basics to work on. For example, if you don't mind me pointing out, it should have been "whether", instead of "weather".

I suggest you take up the job and work on preparing for CAT simultaneously. It might be little hard, preparing for CAT with a full time job, but that will also prepare you for the life at IIM, where you would be put to a grinding schedule of 18 hours a day life. Also you should have started preparing for it in your 3rd year itself at Engineering and should have appeared for it in your final year. Even if you haven't it is not too late. Start right now and make a study circle/group where you exchange your learning. You may also join a CAT coaching. That should give you a feeling where you stand. CAT is a competitive exam and you have to be best to come through.

As for your other question, there is no problem in personal interview, because you didn't take up job, as long you are comfortable answering all questions related to it.

Hope that answers your query.
