Subject: MBA immediately after graduation or later?
Date: 4-Sep-2007
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I beg to have some information from you regarding IIM admission. I am 20 years old student presently doing BE in Aerospace(fourth year) in Ukraine at National Aerospace University 'Khai' ,next year I'm gonna finish my degree and I'm thinking to do MBA at IIM by cracking CAT, so I'm little confused and afraid of my decision because I've heard that doing MBA is prefered only after having some years of job experience but I've also seen many students doing MBA just after their Bachelors degree and without any job experience, so I'm really confused about my decision and need help from you. Should I start preparing for CAT or should I do MS in Aerospace and further do job for some years? (as doing MS will be very expensive for me), so please suggest me about my future ,i'm really much worried, I'll be really greatful for your this act of kindness. Looking forward to ur reply!

Thank you.

Answer: Over 70% of students joining MBA are fresh graduates without any experience. So, there is no truth in the fact that MBA is preferred after job experience, but if one has some experience, it helps because then it is just not theory and you can very well relate to your job.

So, if you are so passionate about doing MBA go for it, without having any second thoughts. CAT is a competitve exam and you have to be best amongst the rest to crack it, so work hard towards it.

Hope that answers your query.
