Subject: Post Graduation in Maths
Date: 26-Apr-2002
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I have done my BSc (Maths) from Mumbai university in Oct-1999 after that I did some basic computer course and did a couple of job. Now I am interested in doing higher studies but it is not possible for me to go for full time as I am engaged in doing a job and I am also not financially strong. I am thinking of doing MSc in Maths / PGDBA in operations.

I just wanted to know what are subjects in Maths in MSc level and since I want to do it through correspondence is it good that I do from Mumbai University? Or else some other which has got weightage. I am looking for such University which gives specialisation i.e Institute like research and devlopment.

What do you think about PGDBA (operation) is it worth if I am appling for a call center.
Please reply me and provide some guidance and consult me to get into good line

Answer: The subjects depend upon the University. It is useful for you to contact the local University office to enquire about the course.

From your mail it looks to me that you could do well in teaching line. Be it in a Univ or a school or a Call center.

Downturn is an industry phenomenon, so keep to your job. Change only when you have another one. Let your studies not interfere or jeopardize your current job.

Your counsel.
