Subject: Architecture and Multimedia
Date: 15-Apr-2002
Question: I am an architect. After completing my course I worked for 1.5 yrs. but I thought that something was missing, because very few people get job satisfaction and almost no employee in this field is happy with his salary scale.

So I did a multimedia course last year. Now i am searching for a job here. but as I am struggling to get a job as a fresher again, I am having a few doubts about my decision as these are the prime years of my life. Did i make a mistake by side-stepping architecture? please give me your opinion.

Answer: You should encash this great opportunity. Build on a concept suggested below. I am convinced you will do great.

You should try and mix the two interests that you have. Look at blending the multimedia skills that you have acquired with your architecture.

Ummm. Let me think of a scenario. Well here it is:

Architecture to my mind is beauty with aesthetics and organizing space for utilization. Landscaping is also a part of it.

Thus every concept that you make or draw or paint can be dramatically presented with limited animation, music, and video clips mixing. All this will bring out a totally new flavor to your designs.

Say a client wants three different architectural designs. Each one may be depicting different lay out. Some voice over the different concepts will help you sell your idea.

You may as well start doing this for some well known architectural firms later. Who knows?

Your counsel.
