Answer: GRE or the Graduate Record Examination is an entrance test for admissions to Graduate(MS/MA and Ph.D) programmes in US Universities. GRE scores are accepted in all the universities in the US and a few in UK. There are two kinds: General test and Subject test. The GRE general consists of 2 multiple-choice sections(quantitative and verbal). A new essay section called the Analytical writing has been added and these are forwarded to the universities you apply along with your GRE score. The general GRE is a Computer Adaptive test and administered only at Prometric Centres. Your GRE score is valid for 5 years. It is for a total of 1600(800 each for the 2 sections). A good score is 1300+. The subject GRE is a paper based test and measures your achievement in a particular subject area, assuming you have completed an undergraduate degree in that subject. Duration is 2 hrs and 50 mins.
As far as I know, the same process of GRE applies to all streams, including Radiophysics & Electronics.
For more detais, you may enquire about the admission pre-requisites directly from the respective US Universities which accept admissions in Radiophysics & Electronics.
All the best!
