Subject: Should continue with PCB or change in 12th?
Date: 28-Sep-2007
Question: My son is quite average in studies and passed his SSC with 60% marks and taken PCB with his own choice. But could not do well and some how manage to pass 11th. Now going for 12th though his principal has given the warning that he will not submit his registration form. what he can do further and whether he should accept a drop or change the stream or try something different? please guide. thanks.
Answer: Dear Parent

I understand the agony that you are going through but what you need to look out is whether your son has difficulty in some particular subject or his performance on the whole is not good-if the latter is the reason, it needs to be ruled out of any learning difficulties. What are his study habits, where does he fail to score are some other things you need to ponder. Dropping a year would not help him unless the problem is identified and rectifications done. It would be better to consult a Psychologist who can evaluate and identify the loopholes and make recommendations. Change of stream or open schooling or any other alternate comes later.
