Subject: What should I(B.Tech CSE fresher) do to fetch a job?
Date: 27-Jan-2003
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I have done B.Tech(Computer Science) with 70% marks from YMCA Institute of Engg Faridabad(Haryana). Currently I am in Hughes Software system Gurgaon on my training. I am very confused because there is no jobs opening for a fresher. Actually our campus is 0%. What should I do? Thank you.
Answer:

In my view you have made a wrong start. I am sure you have very strong connections in Hughes to get the training there. This actually has started all the troubles for you. Hughes is a top notch IT multinational and would perhaps would never ever go to YMCA campus. They perhaps do not even recognize this college as graduation. So will be the attitude of all other multinationals.

Having seen culture in Hughes, any other IT industry company will look puny, and belittled. You have actually sown seeds of dissatisfaction for your career.

Thus the recourse is that you should understand the basic nuances. The multinationals look at college first, the course next, the technical quality of person next, soft skills and behavior and attitude next and finally the finesse and polish. They take the best person and then continuously invest in the person and build and protect that asset. Your qualification and the institute are the first hurdle and you can not pass in to the normal stream of employees in multinationals. Unless you are very strong and lucky!!!

Your counsel.
