Question: I have done M.B.A (Finance/Marketing) and I am working in a NGO. I want to pursue career in teaching should I opt for M.Phil? Is there a positive scope?
Answer: Teaching is a very noble profession. Your further studies depend on which level you want to teach. If you want to teach the higher classes (graduation upwards i.e,college students) then doing M.Phil would be better and also apply for the NET (National Eligibility Test) exam conducted by the UGC. It makes you eligible for lecturership and one can also take up Ph.D as a research scholar. If you are keen to teach in a school situation then a B.Ed would help you than the M.Phil. If you are in a dilemma as to whether you should take the plunge into teaching, it would be advisable if you could take up some part time teaching as a visiting /guest faculty and get hands-on experience in this field.
