Subject: Is it wise to do MBA degree and a CFA degree after B.Com?
Date: 26-Mar-2003
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I'm a student from Kolkata who has just appeared for the Part 2 exams in 2003 in B.Com Honors. I was thinking of appearing for the CAT exams this year, But the problem lies in the fact that I have got no specialisation degree like CA, CS etc. In that case I'm planning to do a post graduate degree from the Calcutta University like MBA and simultaneously take up a correspondence course like the CFA course offered by the ICFAI school. In that case I will be having a post graduate degree from a premier institute and also a specialisation degree like the CFA. I want to pursue a career in finance. Do you think it will be the right decision ?? Doing an MBA and a CFA programme simultaneously does not seem to be a feasible option? Does a MBA degree and a CFA degree improve my career prospects?? Thank you.
Answer: If Finance is your interest, doing an MBA will be beneficial. Choose a premier institution.
