Subject: Guidelines to do IAS for a computers student
Date: 14-Feb-2003
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a computers student but want to do IAS with subjects like Geography and Public Administration, but I don't know anything about these subjects. I have to start from the basics, so please can you tell me which books I should consult(with authors) and what should be the minimum time I should devote towards them. Can you provide me with some study material for these subjects. I am totally confused and puzzled. Please help me out. How should I prepare myself for this big event. It will be your greatness if you will mail me back. Is it necessary that one should have good english? Thank you.
Answer:

Competing for IAS is not easy. You have to put your fundamentals right first. Pick up school level books and then graduation level. Understanding fundamentals is essential. You have to do well in every subject, not only these two. So best is to take a good coaching and also put a target by which you should be able to clear up fundamentals and then go for advanced levels. Continuous focussed effort, fundamental clarity and intelligence, an unfettered will to do well can put you in to the coveted league.

Your counsel.
