Subject: What is the market like for a person with 17 years experience in direct marketing?
Date: 12-Feb-2003
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I have more than 17 years experience in direct marketing of which around 10 years has been in the International marketing arena. I am looking out for a suitable position and have not been able to find one till now (I am searching for the past 3 months). Is this attributable to the economic recession or what? What is it that I should do for finding a job that fits my profile and is interesting. Thank you.
Answer:

The market is looking for younger people who come about with lower salaries. Over all experienced persons in your range are not being preferred, mainly for the cost purposes. There simply aren't any jobs for seniors. Peculiar, eh! If the company has not closed its doors for employees, it is advisable to hang on and get going and get the company the business. This will save not only your job, but that of others too.

Your counsel.
