Subject: What should I do B.Com, BBA, CA, and/or CS after 12th?
Date: 15-Feb-2003
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I have just completed my higher secondary exams(commerce with maths). I want to do CA. Kindly advice me on the following :
1) Should I do B-Com or BBA? Also, should I do Company Secretaryship or Costing along with chartered accountancy?
2) Also is MBA better than a Chartered accountant?
3) Also which subjects are compulsory at Graduation(hons) level for admission to Indian Administrative Service? Thank you.
Answer:

CA will make you a qualified practitioner. Employers prefer multi skilling so it is useful to do CS and ICWA. Bright students who are focussed can cope with all these three together. Doing B.Com (H) will be useful for your career plans. MBAs are different and CA's have their own place. Both are different careers. Equally lucrative, with Advantage (or disadvantage) of own practice possibility in CA. IAS has wide variety of papers options. Best is to look up UPSC site yourself and satisfy rather than risking misunderstood communications.
