Subject: Which carrier to choose, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or B.Sc in Electronics?
Date: 8-Jan-2003
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I am in a state of confusion. I have finished my PUC with aggregate of 77%, I had joined B.E. due to health reasons I discontinued it. I am planning to do Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. I am from Karnataka, my cousin says, there is no scope for it, he is insisting to take up B.Sc in Electronics, further what specialization I can do can you tell me. If I do M.Sc in Astrophysics, will I be able to get a job? What type of job will I get? I am worried what carrier to choose, can you give me a list what specialization I can do after B.Sc, and is there no scope for diploma will I be not able to get job out of it. Thank you.
Answer:

You must specify what do you mean by health reasons. If you can do Diploma or B.Sc. then why not BE. Please remember, study in BE shall not be that tough. If the subject matter is tough, the teachers, the facilities, the library will be better and so learning shall be higher. What ever comes, you should finish your BE. It will be best for your career. Even if you do not score very high, BE is any day better than Diploma or B.Sc..
