Subject: career options for Commerce, Economics and Civics
Date: 9-Jan-2008
Question: My niece is pursuing her education in CEC(Commerce, Economics and Civics). Her parents expect her to study for CA(Chartered Accountancy). She is not very sure its a very good career option for her. Kindly suggest what other options does she have?
Answer: I presume she must be in her senior secondary classes. This is the time when she needs to know and explore as much as she can, about herself as well as the career options available around her. One needs to know her aptitudes, interests, skills and competencies and her likes and dislikes. No option is good or bad because they are relative to one's own needs and aspirations.

She has a plethora of career options open to her but if she is not sure about what she wants to do or what she likes it would be a futile experience to go through. There are options ranging from Financial services like CA/ICWA/CS to law, management, hospitality, mass communication etc.etc. It would not be possible to discuss about all options in a limited forum. You could read about the various options in the Career Choices section and explore yourself to what kind of job profile you would like to enter.

All the best!
