Subject: Career enquiry - Want to switch to Human Resources.
Date: 9-Jan-2008
Question: Respected Sir/Madam,

I have done B.Sc.(Med.), B,Ed., M.Sc.(ATHM)Airlines, Tourism & Hospitality Management.

At present I am working as Head Marketing & Faculty Tourism In a travel & Tourism Training Institute.

My interest is in the HR field. I want to join the Aviation /Hospiality Industry as a HR executive/ Manager.

Kindly guide me what i need to do in order to opt for my dream job.

Answer: The Human Resources is concerned with the "people aspect" of any organization. It deals with the efficient use and development of available skills and talent of the employees within the organisation. Its focus areas are recruitment, selection, training and development, employment motivation, appraisal etc.

To be able to secure a job in this department one needs to acquire an MBA degree or PostGraduate-Diploma with specialization in HR. Travel & tourism or teaching degrees would not help you much in realizing your dream but the wealth of experience that you have earned can be an asset in the Aviation sector.

All the best!
