Answer: Biotechnology is the one of the fastest growing industry in India with tremendous employment potential. Most biotechnologists are employed in research and development involved in biotechnological work. B.Sc in Biotechnology is a good option, since biotechnology is a very specialized field, I would suggest go for B.Sc in biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, botany or chemistry. Then do post graduation in biotechnology.
Opportunities mainly exist for students with PhD/M.Tech degree in Biotechnology or Life Sciences from reputed institutes. After completion of M.Sc you can work as Research Associate or Technical Assistant in any of the government institutes and can earn anything between Rs.8000/- to Rs.10, 000/-+ HRA depending on institute from where you have done your Post graduation. In private companies you could get pay between Rs.10, 000/- to Rs.15, 000/-.
