Question: I have completed my M.Sc. in biochemistry and i did my graduation in biotechnology. i want to know what is the job prospects in the industries such as in pharmacetical and food industry for fresher like me. where should fit in these industry and how should i get into these industry.or should i pursue further study and prepare for CSIR-NET,OR GATE.i have no interest in research or PhD. I also wants to what is the career prospects if i do M.Tech in area .plz suggest me what should i do after these that will offer me good carreer.
Answer: Hi Since you have completed M.Sc in biochemistry you can work in any of the Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical Company as Research associate. For fresher pay package is little low and job availability depends on the institute from which you have done your PG. Food industry does not offers much jobs as compared to Pharma/Biotech sector, mainly microbiologist are employed there. To survive in this field and for getting promotions in research jobs PhD is must. After completing M.Tech in Biotechnology you have to again look for the PhD and if you are not interested in research field don’t prepare for CSIR, UGC-NET or for GATE. You can look for M.Tech in Bioinformatics because in bioinformatics good jobs are available after M.Tech, but M .Tech should be from good institute or if you are interested in management you can go for MBA.
