Question: I am a student of 12 with bio, maths and physics/chem and English. I like bio and would like to do something related to environment.
Answer: Environment Science is the study of environment in a scientific approach of Physical, chemical and Biological context. Environmental science is an advanced study of climatic change, conservation of energy, biodiversity, ground water and soil contamination and the technologies developed to arrest/treat air pollution, sound pollution, and even dazzling head lights of vehicles, Vehicles pollution, Industrial pollution, and plastic menace.Of late, Environmental science is emerging as one of the most sought after careers as people throughout the world are becoming more and more aware about the significance of clean environment. Environmental science is a broad term, incorporating various different activities. In can be applied in the following fields:

  2. Research and Development
  3. Social Development
  4. Environmental Journalism
  5. Environmental Modelling

An individual aspiring for a career in environmental engineering can join BE/B.Tech program after his/her Plus Two Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths. The BE/BTech program is of four years duration. Admission to B.Tech program is made generally through entrance tests.

There are many engineering colleges/universities in India including the IITs offering BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech courses in environmental engineering. Environmental science is also taught as an MSc. programme and therefore a bachelor\'s degree in any discipline of science is an essential prerequisite. However there are few institutions which offer environmental subjects at the BSc. level.
