Subject: Specialization after BAMS

Question: Hi, actually I might opt for BAMS. So, I just wanted to know that can i do skin specialization after BAMS? And if i want 2 do MD can i do it simultaneously with specilization? And i also wanted to know that can one do MS after BAMS?
Answer: Candidates who have passed BAMS can apply for post graduate programmes. The Post graduate programmes are conducted by many recognised institutions and has a duration of 3 years leading to degrees of Doctor of Medicine in Ayurveda (M.D. (Ayu)) and Master of Surgery in Ayurveda (M.S. (Ayu)).

You may not be able to do MS or Skin Specialization in allopathy. Post-graduate programs is structured into 16 branches leading to a Doctorate in Ayurveda. The 16 branches are

  1. Ayurvedic Sidhanta (Fundamental Principals of Ayurveda)
  2. Ayurved Samhita ( Treatise of Ayurveda)
  3. Rachna Sharira ( Anatomy)
  4. Kriya Sharira (Physiology)
  5. Dravya Guna Vigyan ( Materia Medica & Pharmacology)
  6. Ras- ShastraBhaishajya Kalpana ( Pharmaceuticals)
  7. Kumar Bharitya ( Paediatrics)
  8. Prasuti Tantra (Obstetrics & Gynaecology)
  9. Swasth Vrita (Social of Preventive Medicine)
  10. Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine)
  11. Rog Nidan ( Pathology)
  12. Shalya Tantra ( Surgery)
  13. Shalkya Tantra ( Eye & ENT )
  14. Mano Roga ( Psychiatry)
  15. Panchkarma (Detoxification of body)
