Question: I have given my 12 exams this year and I would feel grateful if you could kindly suggest a solution to my problem. Sir, I am keenly interested in joining merchant navy and it would be a milestone in my life if only I could join it. But as an obstacle
I wear spectacles but I can get it corrected by Lasik (Laser) Operation, then can the corrected eye sight get me through my problem or do I have another way out.
Your help would be of great aid to me, waiting for your concerned reply.
Thanking you |

Answer: This is the response from renowned Ophthalmologist from USA. Hope this also helps
The laser treatment is for myopia only. A person who cannot see for far and
has a minus prescription between -1.00 diopters and -10.00 diopter and astigmatism less than 4, age 21 years or older, and the prescription should not have changes in the last 18 months. Laser is not for people needing reading glasses. The surgery is not without risks: one can loose their vision, or get distorted vision or can become painfully blind. The key is to research the place, the surgeon and talk to the patients who have had the surgeries before. Check on their certification and training."""
