Question: Dear Sir/Madam,

I have just completed my higher secondary exams(non-medical). I got admission to chemical engineering. I want to do MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. I am an average student. Kindly advice me how should I prepare and how much study hour I need for CAT.

Answer: There is no hard and fast rule that you study for 6 hours and you will be able to get through the CAT exam. It all depends on your individual effort, your practice, accuracy, speed and presence of mind while taking the test. You surely need to get a good percentile to get into IIM-Ahmedabad. Your focus should be on maximizing your speed and accuracy. Verbal ability, Reading Comprehension, Problem solving, Logical Reasoning, Data Sufficiency and Data Interpretation are things you need to focus. CAT is a computer adaptive test and the pattern differs every year. Practice is the key word-the more time you dedicate the better it is.

You may consider joining a reputed CAT preparatory coaching which would give you a direction towards preparing and would help you learn better in a group.

Hope that helps.
