Question: I am Suraj from Delhi. I am working in a Institute which provides B.Sc in IT and Computing. I am working here as a Assistant system Administrator from last two years. Since last two weeks I am very sadness about my career I have three years diploma in Electronics and also advanced diploma in Computer Hardware and LAN Engineering.

Now I want to take a degree from any reputed institute but only in correspondence. I heard about DOEACC B-level exam. It is good for me but I am not sure about it that it is useful for my career or not because of I am in Computer Hardware field and it is in Computer Applications field.

I also heard more exams like MCSE, A+ and CCNA etc. But these courses are very high charges.
So please tell me what course will be good for my future. Thanks.
Answer: All system Administration persons should be conversant with Software. Large jobs may come to those who are good at data mining, data backup, recovery, security systems. The networking alone is not key technology. It is higher value adding jobs that will be in demand. Thus you should do the following:

Browse the web for vacancies advertised by companies and over say 5 to 10 postings you will come to see what kind of skills are required. Then you measure where you are lacking. You may not become absolute fit, yet you can know where to begin.

Opportunities are not yet coming up abroad, so do not spend money as after some time the certifications expire. Please spend your money with care.
