Subject: MBA after IAS
Date: 2-Oct-2007
Question: I am a student at IIT delhi. I am preparing for the next year Civil Services(IAS). I also want to preferably pursue my MBA through GMAT (after 10-15 yrs). I have come across a link in geocities which says that I after entering into IAS I can pursue my MBA at a foreign location. During that period my seniority will be maintained and i will be financed to pursue the same. I want to know the extent of the truth of this statement. If true, what is the duration of sponsorship at foreign shores? I will be obliged if i am guided on the same.
Answer: One comes to hear of sabbaticals for higher education in different fields but there is a reason behind it-either the officer wants to quit a service and therefore to equip himself better he plans further studies like in the Armed Forces or it is for both personal and professional growth. People generally go for the coveted professions after accomplishing the easier one. However,it is true that seniority is maintained even while your education is financed but it is subsidized and the duration depends on the course you want to take.
