2. Advice for B.E. Graduate in Management field
I am a BE Graduate in EEE from BMSCE, Bangalore, passed out in September 2001. My Academic performance is not that appreciable. Despite several failures in subjects and then clearing it, I managed to get an aggregate of 58% [ I-VIII ] Sem. My Final Sem % is 70.19 and Average % in final year [ VII - VIII ] Sem is 67%.
Now, considering the above fact, is it possible to land up in some company as a project trainee in any I.T. field in India apart from programming stuffs.
My interests lies in the areas of Wireless / Networking / Broadcommunication /Telecom. Except for Software which requires programming skills. I hate programmingg and feel that it is not my cup of tea. I am pretty good at hardware/Networking concepts etc. and I think that I can build my future in it.
Since September until now, I am working as a Marketing Executive representing Embedded Systems Tools for US Companies. My job profile basically includes meeting people, explaining them about our products and marketing it.
Now, please advise me. Whether to opt for Management or Technical Line. As far as Management is concerned, I do not find anything unconvincing as long as I do not handle field jobs. Apart from direct-sales Marketing [on field]. Do you see there is any scope in Management, thus enchasing handsome pay & perks ?
If yes, is M.B.A. necessary? Apart from IIMs and it's associates, which Management Institute in India do you think is feasible to carry on M.B.A. Considering facts such as Placement Assistance, faculty, duration, fees, scholarship, stipends, internships etc., thus providing quality Management and leadership ?
Without doing M.B.A., is it possible to jump at higher position such as Business Development Specialist, IT Manager, Product Manager, Brand Manager etc.
Yes, I do have communication abilities & skills, leadership qualities & other pre-requisites to reach top position.
Considering my career fact as stated above, please advise me. Am I going on the right track or not? My intention is that I have to lead a secured life in future. At the age of 27, I must be in a comfortable position with no financial hassles. I am prepared to work hard and smart, accept challenges & failures, giving it best. Overall, is it advisable to go for Management or Technical side, considering future and scope.
If at all, I chose Technical side, is it preferable to do MS or any PG Program which suites my interest as mentioned in the beginning ?
So, what is the correct path to become a Project Manager for MNC in areas of Networking / Wireless / Telecom / Broadcommunication which ensures no Software jobs and programming knowledge.
Despite being Marketing Executive for one year and opting for a technical path, am I taking a right decision? Am I wasting time? Please bear in mind that if you insist either for Management / Technical Background, can I get directly a job. If no, is higher studies a must? For MS in Technical section in the above mentioned interested areas, kindly highlight me on the Institutes which offer such education in India. According to you, which field in IT will grow for another 20 years in India, considering the technological aspects and future. Kindly advise ASAP and oblige. I would be grateful to you for your kind co-operation and support. I am in a very confused situation as pressure is continuously mounting on me day by day. I kindly request you to take the matter to your heart and answer my queries.
