Question: I am now-a-days in very hyper tension. My problem is that I have completed my IT Engineering from a private institute and now I come to know that I don't have any knowledge because I wasted my full four years, I don't have interest in coding of languages but I am interested in internet. I don't know what to do now because am not interested in MBA. But I want to do job either it start from small amount.
Sir what can I do to earn job? Is there any software branch in which I get job without implementing programming coding ? |

Answer: I fully empathize with your situation.
First of all, please do not feel disheartened. You have not wasted your years. All you need is to decide as to how to utilize those years.
Programming is a skill that gets honed through hard work and good teaching. Some thing that you have missed in your college.
One good area that comes to my mind where you can use your IT knowledge is Marketing. If you are not the "Smart Alec" types, please do not worry. There is a commercial aspect to projects and some thing that is called presales. You can master this aspect. You do not need an MBA degree in this area.
Another good area is Quality. You can get in to S/W Testing and QA. It is interesting to have process knowledge and also some programming. You do not have to program, but you need to know enough to remove defects out of another person's work to make the software work. It is infact a level higher than programming in that sense and should give you satisfaction.
Question is where do you start. I believe, start in quality area because as a fresher it may be an entry point and once you are in you can glide over to presales. If you like quality work, make it your life partner.
For a quality oriented job, first you need to prepare yourself:
You need to study about ISO provisions and IT related stuff. There will be a lot of knowledge to be tapped on the Net.
Then you need to know about CMM model. Know about Malcolm Baldridge and Deming Awards. Go as deep as possible. But put a target date to yourself by which you should feel comfortable.
Understand the process of certifications and assessments.
On Testing of Software, find out what testing methodologies are there what is Testing Life Cycle, Test plan Design and Development, Automated test Design. Standards & Procedures Development, Learn about test planning, test case estimation, test case preparation, review, defect management testing tools such as Silk Test (automated tool); Loadrunner testing tool etc. Configuration Management Tool Visual Source Safe (VSS) etc.
All this will get reflected in your resume as either "understanding of" or "knowledge of".
This will help you getting the right job.
Should take about one month study? Eh!
Best of luck and warm regards. |
