Answer: Animation and cartoon industry is one of the booming industries in India and abroad. It offers plenty of job opportunities and there are great scopes for career development in this field. Most of the animation firms hire professionals with profound knowledge in this field for various experienced as well as entry level positions.

Candidates after completing their course in animation may join various public and private sector organizations as per their choice. The developing Indian market has enhanced the scenario of animation jobs in India. Individuals may even take up assignments and work as freelancers. The jobs offered in this field are quite lucrative and there are immense scopes for career development.

Two-d Animator, Cartoonist, Animation specialist, Illustrator, Web Designer, Graphic Designer, Project Manager for 3D projects and Visualizer are some of the main job profiles available in this field.

India has over 300 animation studios employing over 12,000 animation professionals. Besides this, Indian companies are creating a number of animated films and cartoons for US and European studios. There fore the chances for good creative animators never ends.

The good salary is the most attractive part of this profession. With in years these professionals can earn six-digit salary. As a junior animator or trainee one could get between Rs.15000- 20000 per month. A three to five year experienced animator will get 30000 to 35000. And a well-experienced animator who has a good portfolio of excellent animation work could easily get 50000- 60000 per month.

The hidden truth is that people are interested only in learning animation and getting jobs, means they are impatient and would like to get over with the learning part soon. Animation education in India is mostly unorganised, and it's the technological aspect which is emphasised in the institutes and the artistic side is ignored completely. As a result we are not seeing that many powerful, original works of animation from India. But this is a short run scenario. If we look five years ahead from now, this filed will offer plethora of job opportunities, but the need is to be a little patient as no course or academic degree provides 100% guaranteed of job, unless you yourself work hard towards attaining your goal. Despite manpower shortage, the Indian animation industry has made giant strides of late and the country has become the outsourcing hub for many western animation studios as well as for Hollywood.Although these courses are expensive, but the kind of remuneration one receives after getting jobs, compensates all these expenses.

All the best
