Subject: How to choose the right career which improve my personality on the whole?
Date: 16-Dec-2002
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I am an Engineering Graduate (Computer Science), I completed in november 2000, after my graduation I finished a 1 year training in an industry in Telecom Field, during this term I realized that this kind of job is not my interest, though I took up engineering, which was due to my interest in computer, I like doing a job which does not require me sitting 8-12 hours in the seat, I want a job which will help me improve my personality on the whole i.e., improving my communication, my interaction, my life style, which satisfaction I do not get doing a software job, I want the guidance to choose the right career, since when I ask people the same question they say it is just that I don't want to put in the effort to study and work hard, but I like interaction which I only realize. Please help me take the right path and please guide to the path and how should I start. Thank you.
Answer:

You have all the desires that are exhibited by a Marketing person. If technology is your base, and you like to communicate, move out and meet people, you should look at Marketing job, provided you have support from your home environment too as this job may involve traveling outstation locations too. More so, look at a multimedia company. May be the best ultimate combination will be a techno-commercial job. You will be able to satisfy your ambitions. My only fear is that I hope this desire to interact with people is not a temporary phase or a fad. May be the project that you got involved with was not interesting that has made you think otherwise. Take a careful deep look before you switch. Moving out may be very easy, now, any time later, coming back to technology: next to impossible!
