Subject: Career prospects for sales & marketing guy.

Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a Chemical Engineer from Punjab university Chandigarh with MBA from
IMT-Ghaziabad and having 15 yrs experience in marketing capital equipments and now
intend to change my line -options e-commerce, joining Business
associations like CII, FICCI etc.I love to read the
Economic Times and I am more interested in finance
and commerce data and information than technical data. My strengths are
communication, PR and weakness hard-core technical stuff. However I have
managed this far as I have been able to get orders for the companies I
have worked in.However salaries in Capital equipment are very low.
Please advise what options I have,

Answer: Dear Ravi,
At this stage keeping your background and interests in mind CII would
be your best option - either their consulting wing or the corporate
relations wing.
Other possibilities for you is to take up marketing job with new
upcoming E-commerce companies or ISPs, who needs marketing guys
who knows little bit of everything in the field, rather than the
depth of any field.
Please explore with them for a suitable opportunity.
