Subject: Chartered Accountants scope
Date: 20-Jul-2008
Question: I want to know the scope of C.A is very at present. Will it remain same after 5 to 10 years & what is the min. remuneration a C.A aspirant can expect after 5 years?
Answer: With the financial sector boom in Indian economy and the growing importance of financial parameters in all aspects of business, chartered accountancy is a much sought-after career. A chartered accountant performs a variety of roles from that of the auditor of accounts to a tax consultant. Often this includes that of a lawyer, solicitor and even a financial investigator. A qualified CA can take up a job as a trainee in industry, in commercial organisations, banks, insurance companies, and in private and government offices. CAs can also set up their own industrial/ business ventures. They can provide consultancy in the preparation of project reports, corporate financial planning, feasibility studies, energy or environmental audit etc.

As far as remuneration is concerned Chartered Accountancy is a well-paid profession, be it Government Service, private firms or own consultancy. Most multi-national firms provide numerous perks besides the salary such as medical benefits' house allowance and so on. Some of the average monthly earnings range between Pre Qualification Rs.3,500 - Rs.5,000, Fresh CA's Rs. 6,000 - Rs. 8,500, Accounts Managers Rs. 8,500 - Rs.10,500, Financial Controllers Rs. 15,500 - Rs. 20,000, Directors Rs. 15,000 - Rs. 25,000 and an experienced CA's may get monthly earnings more than Rs. 50,000 in India and Rs.5,00,000 in abroad, according to the company they work for or depending upon the cities they are working in. This depends up on the involvement, commitment, hard work and dedication to the job.

As long as financial sector is growing and industries are growing CA's wont be ever be out of work. And this trend is not expected to end rather their job prospects and importance would be increasing with changing times.

Hope that helps.
