Subject: B.Tech computer science V/S B.Sc Comp. Science
Date: 29-Jul-2008
Question: I'm B.Sc first year Comp. Science student. I would like to know the difference between the above subject, I mean in professional sense. What will be the salary difference, and which will be better. If I get a chance to do B.tech next year, should I opt for the one? Awaiting your kind reply....
Answer: B.Tech is a 4 year course awarded by certified Engineering College and course will be slide towards application of technology B.Sc. Computer Science is awarded by some of the University and it is three year course. Not much popular for some category. B.Sc includes fundamental theories, principles and concepts of computers. B.tech studies technology on the other hand and has to do with current methodologies and more practical.

As per the Indian education standards, there is a minimal change in the course curriculum . Majority companies give more importance to B.Tech as it's called as engineering rather than regular Graduation.

As far as the salaries are concerned B.Tech degree holders can earn much more than those holding B.Sc computer Science degrees.

So if you get a chance to do B.Tech IT you must for it as it would be better for your and career will get a boost.

You also have an option of doing MCA from a good college/university after doing B.Sc. (Computer Science)

All the best
